Durga Puja public holidays 2026: dates listed for offices and travellers
The 2026 holiday list reviewed for this story includes Mahalaya, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami, Dashami and additional Durga Puja holidays.
Holiday dates can affect office schedules, bank work and travel plans during Durga Puja. The SEBI holiday listing for October 2026 records Mahalaya on October 10, Durga Puja Maha Saptami on October 18, Maha Ashtami on October 19, Vijaya Dasami and Navami on October 20, and Durga Puja Dasami on October 21.
Holiday applicability is not identical for every employer, state or service. A public holiday list should be checked against the reader’s office calendar, school notice or state government notification before making a booking.
Travellers should also remember that a holiday can mean higher demand, changed opening hours and more crowded transport. Keep digital copies of tickets and allow extra time near festival venues.
