A security communication sent to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has proposed restrictions across 57 stations ahead of the planned October 10 gathering at Jantar Mantar. The proposal covers entry and exit gates and also recommends lower train frequency at affected locations.

Why the restriction is wider than central Delhi

The station list stretches across several corridors rather than focusing only on the station nearest Jantar Mantar. It includes central interchange points such as Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Mandi House and Central Secretariat, along with stations on the Yellow, Blue, Red, Pink, Violet and Magenta corridors.

The wider footprint reflects a crowd-management concern: passengers and groups moving towards sensitive locations may use different lines and interchanges. A station can therefore be operational for trains while its public gates are restricted.

What this means for a journey

Do not rely on yesterday’s route plan. Check whether the origin, interchange and destination stations are open, and keep a non-metro alternative for the final leg. If the trip involves the New Delhi railway area, build in additional time because road traffic and station access may also be affected.

The proposal is a security measure connected to a live situation, not a permanent change to the Delhi Metro network. The final operating status should be taken from the latest DMRC communication.
